Assistant or Associate Psychologist Survey
Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora is proposing the development of a new role for an Assistant or Associate Psychologist (AP). This would increase the mental health workforce by providing post-graduate training for psychology graduates. Creating a new role requires considerable preparation, including the development of a new accredited qualification, and drawing up a new scope of practice with relevant competencies. It is proposed that APs will be registered with NZPB, work under supervision, and only work in a team setting.
Gathering feedback from key stakeholders is a vital part of developing a new scope of practice. With the recent release of the “Guidance for development of the AP Workforce and Role Description” by Te Whatu Ora, the Board is seeking your feedback. Please complete the survey by CLICKING HERE to have input into this important development in our profession.
