Amendment Notice of Scopes of Practice and Related Qualifications Prescribed by the Psychologists Board

Pursuant to Part 2, section 14 (1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the following amendment notice is given.

 

Notice

Title and commencement

(1) This notice may be cited as the Amendment Notice of Scopes of Practice and Related Qualifications Prescribed by the Psychologists Board that came into effect on 18 September 2004*.

(2) The amendment is the footnote numbered “3”.

(3) This notice comes into force on 24 November 2005.

 

Qualifications Prescribed for Registration in a Scope
of Practice

4. Educational Psychologist

Pursuant to section 12 of the Act, the following qualifications have been prescribed for registration as a psychologist in the educational scope of practice:

A minimum of a Masters degree in psychology3 from an accredited educational organisation and an accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Psychology, or equivalent qualification. Eligibility for an educational scope of practice shall require a board approved practicum or internship involving 1500 hours of supervised practice.

3A Masters degree in Education may be considered equivalent to a Masters degree in psychology where its content is sufficiently educational psychology in nature.
