Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidelines

 

 

The Board are pleased to advise the approval of the final draft of ‘Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Psychology in Aotearoa New Zealand’ for publication at the recent August Board meeting. AI is a swiftly moving area of development for all sectors of society, and it is important that psychologists have guidance on the ethical and professional issues that arise with any type of use of AI. The Guidelines were developed to assist psychologists to consider these issues as AI becomes more commonplace in the health sector

The Board and the AI Advisory Group would like to thank the profession for their feedback during the public consultation that occurred in May-June 2024. This resulted in some important amendments that have enhanced the guidance contained in the document.

The AI Advisory Group is a group of volunteers from across the profession who have a special interest in AI, and who have generously given their time and expertise since November 2023 to compile these Guidelines. The Board would like to thank them for their time and dedication to this important emerging area that has significant implications for psychological practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.

NZPB are considered leaders by other health professions in developing this new guidelines which are set to be reviewed annually.
