Updated Informed Consent Guidelines
The process of informed consent is a critical step in the first contact with the people with whom we work. It is also frequently an area where psychologists encounter situations that can be legally and ethically difficult to navigate. The NZPB have updated the Informed Consent Guidelines, in consultation with cultural, legal, ethical and specific subject matter experts in the field. The Guidelines have been structured under ten overarching principles for ease of reference. Whilst a Guideline is unable to provide specific answers for complex dilemmas, we hope that the updated Informed Consent Guidelines will assist practitioners in reviewing, understanding and implementing the processes required in order for people to make informed choices about participating in services and research.
